The latest report from Counterpoint reveals the smartphone sales performance in the second quarter of 2023. Xiaomi and vivo are experiencing challenges in their phone sales, both companies facing difficulties.
2023 Q2 smartphone sell rates
We know that Samsung has been leading the market for a long time, Samsung has once again emerged as the top performing brand during this quarter. Samsung’s success can be attributed to the popularity of both their flagship models and the more budget friendly Galaxy A series. On the other hand, Xiaomi’s sales declined in both the Chinese and Indian markets, while vivo also continued to struggle. That’s quite interesting, as Xiaomi has been one of the best-selling brands in markets like India and China. However, they have recently started to sell fewer devices even there.
The premium segment of the smartphone market has witnessed a significant increase in sales. This surge in demand for high-end devices is attributed to various factors, including the relatively higher prices of midrange smartphones compared to previous years. OPPO saw a relatively good performance in the Chinese and Indian markets, largely due to the success of their OnePlus devices.
