There have been a lot of noise on the internet that YouTube is reportedly working on lite version of its Premium Plan. This plan was already announced for a few selected countries earlier as part of testing, but was later discontinued. Now, after a few weeks, YouTube has officially announced ‘Premium Lite’ plan for the US market.
YouTube announces ‘Premium Lite’ plan for US consumers
The popular video streaming platform YouTube has today announced the expansion of affordable Premium Lite plan for the users residing in the United States. Before the announcement of this plan, the YouTube had two subscription option for its consumers: Premium and Music Premium. The regular premium version costs $13.99 whereas the Music Premium costs $10.99.
The newly announced Premium Lite plan is priced at $7.99 which is almost half of the pricing of the regular Premium subscription. This plan is specifically tailored for the users who are mostly into videos and were looking for affordable plans.

The new plan comes with a few limitations. While you’ll get to enjoy your favorite videos without any ads, music content will still include ads. Additionally, you won’t be able to download videos or play them in the background. That said, the plan still delivers on its main promise—giving you an ad-free experience for most of your video watching.
If you’re a student or just a casual viewer who doesn’t need features like background play, downloads, or ad-free YouTube Music, this plan could be a great fit for you. It’s a budget-friendly option that still gives you a completely ad-free experience for your videos, helping you save some money while enjoying what matters most to you.
