Google’s AI chatbot Bard introduces brand new AI-powered “extensions”. Some of the services in the extensions are Google’s own products, while others include 3rd party services. The main purpose of Google’s new extensions is to further improve the Google Search. On a simple Google search, the data indexed in Google Search can sometimes be outdated that misleads the user, such as the outdated price or availability of a product.
Google Bard Extensions
A recent article by 9to5google outlined the services included in Google Bard Extensions, which are as follows: Google Flights, Google Hotels, Google Maps, Instacart, Kayak, OpenTable, Redfin, YouTube, and Zillow.
Although the Google Extensions interface is currently accessible, none of the Extensions are functional yet. The uniqueness of these Extensions lies in their ability to perform internet searches, a capability absent in most existing AI chatbots.
For instance, when you issue a command like “List the hotels in Antalya, Türkiye near the beach.” to Bard, it will promptly display suitable hotel options. When you ask Bard to “Find flight tickets from Antalya to Berlin,” it will surf the web for the latest ticket prices and present them to you. Bard Extensions basically function as an AI model that efficiently surfs the internet on your behalf.
