NVIDIA has recently surpassed Apple to become the world’s second most valuable tech brand, with a market value of over $3 trillion. The company has experienced significant growth. In other news, a new AI startup called Kneron has launched a new NPU for laptops and will compete with established giants like NVIDIA and AMD.
Kneron’s newly launched NPUs offer robust hardware
In the ongoing 2024 Taipei International Computer Show, Kneron on Wednesday i.e., on June 5th announced its new NPU for notebooks. The startup announced its third-generation NPU chip KL830 and KNEO 330 at the event.
Kneron is a brand that was founded in China in 2015 by CEO Liu Juncheng and Zhang Maozhong. The company focuses on developing advanced technology for AI-powered computers. Kneron has received investments from prominent companies such as Qualcomm, Foxconn Group, Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund, and China Development Capital.
In terms of products, the KNEO 330 server has 48 TOPS of AI computing capacity. It can handle up to 8 concurrent connections and supports LLM and Stable Diffusion. With lower hardware settings, RAG accuracy is comparable to cloud solutions, saving small businesses 30%-40% on AI costs.

He mentioned that organizations might be hesitant to share their data with third-party entities and use their AI technologies for model training because of concerns about data privacy and security. In response, they can use Kneron’s technology to establish internal servers that will support AI applications tailored to their specific enterprise. He anticipates that Kneron will benefit from the demand for AI solutions within companies and emerge as a strong alternative to industry giants such as NVIDIA and AMD.
