OnePlus Ace 2 Pro Review: Why shouldn’t you buy it?

OnePlus, recognized as the foremost leader in the realm of technology’s “Flagship Killer” smartphones, swiftly introduced OnePlus Ace 2 Pro to consumers. This device, which unquestionably lives up to the ‘Flagship Killer’ legacy, marks a recent departure from the brand’s traditional design ethos. Remarkably, OnePlus Ace 2 Pro not only embraces this departure but also sets new pre-order records that underscore its popularity among users.

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro represents the pinnacle of ‘Flagship Killer’ smartphones, presenting an exceptional equilibrium between price and performance, with a particular emphasis on the realms of sheer power and display brilliance. Its mission is clear: to offer users a maximized experience at an eminently affordable price point. This remarkable device seamlessly incorporates the most advanced features available within its segment, promising users an unrivaled smartphone experience.

Display

The most striking feature of the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro is its screen. This screen has a 1.5K resolution. It comes with a 6.74-inch Q9+ AMOLED panel produced by BOE. The device, which has very good color saturation, is combined with a 120Hz screen refresh rate to provide a smooth experience. The brightness level of the screen is also quite sufficient, with a maximum brightness of 1600nits, it will provide a sufficient experience in outdoor use.

One of the most important features of this device is the “rainwater touch technology”, thanks to this technology, we can use the phone uninterruptedly even in torrential rain. This technology is so ambitious that OnePlus even made a comparison with the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which usually advertises water resistance.

Performance

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro has chosen Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as its chipset. A chipset that offers much better performance than the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset used by the Redmi K60 Ultra, its price rival. The device also has the highest RAM capacity we can see in smartphones.

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro performs just like other Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 devices. In the Geekbench 6 test, it managed to score 1995 points in single-core performance and 5237 points in multi-core performance. In the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme test, it managed to score 3687 points while showing an average of 22.06 frames.

Up to 24GB of LPDDR5X SK-Hynix RAM and up to 1TB of UFS4.0 storage provide high-speed data processing and storage capacity. OnePlus Ace 2 Pro is always one step ahead of competitors such as Xiaomi 13 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Battery

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro, like many flagship devices today, has a 5000mAh battery capacity. However, OnePlus makes a difference here too, using 150W SuperVOOC wired fast charging technology. This allows you to fully charge your phone in an incredible 17 minutes. Considering that Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra offers 45W fast charging and its closest competitor Redmi K60 Ultra offers 120W fast charging support, it is a very good value.

On top of all this, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro features the SuperVOOC S power management chip that controls the display, charging speeds and temperature to guarantee “long-lasting charge protection”. This chip allows you to charge your smartphone faster and more safely. At the same time, this power management chip also controls the smartphone’s discharge. In this way, your phone has a fast, safe, long-lasting battery both when charging and discharging.

Camera

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro features a triple camera array. Just like the OnePlus 11, it uses a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS support. Let us remind you that with this camera, Oppo Find X5 Pro ranked 2nd in the DxOMark list with 153 points. It will allow you to take very clear and high-quality photos. An 8MP Sony IMX355 mid-range wide-angle camera is used as an auxiliary camera. These cameras are accompanied by a 2MP macro camera.

This device, which can record 4K 60FPS video, unfortunately, cannot shoot 8K video. On the front, a 16MP Samsung S5K3P9SP04 camera is used. I would like to point out that this camera does not suit this device. at least an IMX709 could have been used. With this camera, you can get very low video recording such as 1080p 30FPS. At least 1080p 60FPS recording could have been used here.

If we examine the daily shooting performance of the main camera. The lines of the building in the photo are quite detailed. At the same time, the color tone of the indoor air and the color tone of the building are very harmonious. It is worth noting that it is a very successful shot.

If we examine the night shooting performance of the main camera. The balance between where there is lighting and where there is not is quite good. There is no light burst or imbalance. In addition to all these, it was a very detailed shot, and I cannot pass without mentioning that the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro has a very successful night mode. It was a perfect shot.

If we examine the wide-angle camera. As I criticized, the mid-range wide-angle camera is used, so the detail is a bit mediocre, but the harmony of the color tones in the photo is quite good. Although I think that wide-angle photos will not upset users, it is better not to expect too much from this camera.

Other features

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro comes out of the box with Android 13 operating system based on ColorOS 13. It is quite sufficient to receive 3 years of Android version updates and 4 years of Android security updates as device update support. The device also uses some technologies that have become standard in every flagship device, such as 5G, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and infrared.

The lack of a 3.5mm jack input on the device, which has a Dolby Atmos-supported stereo speaker, may cause a reaction from some users. Oneplus Ace 2 Pro also has the x-axis vibration motor found in the OnePlus 11. For game lovers without heating up for long hours, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro uses the 9140 mm² Vapor Chamber cooling system. As security options, it uses an under-screen fingerprint sensor and face recognition.

Design and Color Options

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro uses the same rear design as the OnePlus devices released in recent years. At first glance, this makes it difficult to understand which device it is, even though this is a OnePlus device. Speaking of the back cover, the back of our device has a glass surface and this glass is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro is 8.98 mm thick and weighs 210 grams, which is normal for such a full device. The device is available in two different colors. These are called “Aurora Green” and “Titanium Gray”. There could be more color options, but the current color options are quite nice.

Price

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro has a pricing worthy of its “Flagship Killer” title, with a price tag of $410 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage option and $465 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB Storage option. The 24GB RAM + 1TB Storage option, which we can call the full package, has a price tag of 550$.

The device, which offers a very good pricing option in terms of price-performance balance, becomes a complete “Flagship Killer” device when you combine all these. Any user with the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro will never have a bad experience. Its display, performance and all other features make for a near-perfect experience.
