Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC with 27% improved CPU performance

The Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset was a popular contender in the mid-range smartphone market. The chipset manufacturer has now launched its successor, dubbed the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in the market. It brings upto 30% improved GPU performance, upto 27% improved CPU performance and upto 65% improved NPU, compared to the predecessor. You can read its detailed specifications below!

Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 specifications

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is an octa-core chipset which uses one primary core, four performance core and three power efficiency cores. The primary core has a clock speed of upto 2.8GHz, the performance cores have a maximum clock speed of upto 2.4GHz whereas the power-efficiency cores have a clock speed of 1.8GHz. The chipset is build on the TSMC’s 4nm finfet technology and therefore it is expected that the chipset will have overall better power efficiency.

The chipset employs Qualcomm Hexagon NPU which comes with AI Hexagon Tensor Accelerator, Hexagon Vector Extensions, Scalar Accelerator and support of INT4, INT8 and INT16 mix precision. It further uses Qualcomm’s Sensing Hub NPUs for audio and sensors.

Talking about its network capabilities, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 has a 5G modern-RG system with the support of sub-6GHz and a download speed of upto 4.2 Gbps. It further carries the support of Wi-Fi 7, 6GHz Wi-Fi spectral band, Bluetooth 6.0, LE audio, Snapdragon Sounding Tech with Qualcomm aptX Voice, aptX lossless and aptX adaptive audio codec support.

The chipset can support upto 200-megapixel photo capture. It also comes with the Qualcomm Trusted Execution Environment & Services, Trust Management Engine, Wireless Edge and other premium security features. It carries the support of LPDDR5x RAM with the memory speed of 4200 MHz and memory density of 16GB.

As of right now, there’s no official words on the smartphones that are going to be powered by this particular chipset in the future. However, it is being expected that HONOR and Vivo will be the first ones to launch its smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
