Rumors have been swirling that Samsung is developing its first tri-folding smartphone, potentially positioning it as a competitor to Huawei’s recently launched Mate XT, another tri-folding device that has made waves in the global market. The Samsung’s upcoming device is said to be named as ‘Galaxy G Fold’.

Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone, the Galaxy G Fold, is in the works!
Samsung was recently granted a patent for tri-folding smartphone with a flip-style design at the World Intellactual Property Organization (WIPO) on February (spotted by 91Mobiles). If w look closely at the patent images, it reveals that the device will have two hinges, that will hold the entire smartphone. The device could be folded twice and when unfolded, the screen will become as big as a tablet.
The patent images also reveal a dedicated slot for S-Pen. So this could mean that the device will have support of Samsung’s famous S-Pen. The volume controller buttons and the power button is located at the top portion of the gadget, whereas the charging port is at the botton frame.
On the back, there’s an elongated oval-shaped module that likely houses the camera sensors. That said, since the device is still in the patent stage—the very earliest phase of development—there’s not much concrete information available yet. However, we can probably expect more leaks or even an official announcement in the coming days.
