Xiaomi 11 series update life ends early, no HyperOS

One of the leading players in the smartphone industry is Xiaomi. The company is preparing to release the highly anticipated HyperOS stable version in December. This important update promises to bring numerous new features and optimizations that will take the user experience to new heights. While millions are eagerly awaiting this update, Xiaomi has been silent on the devices that are scheduled to receive the HyperOS update.

But we have news that will upset Mi 11 series users. Xiaomi has canceled the update to that popular model. So which popular model is it? In this comprehensive article, we’ll explore the possible devices, potential limitations and the complicating factors that are driving these decisions. If you’re a Xiaomi, POCO or Redmi user eagerly awaiting the HyperOS update, read on to check out the devices that have been revealed.

Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G will not get HyperOS

Xiaomi started the HyperOS testing phase for the Mi 11 series in September. Currently, internal testing is underway for the Xiaomi 11, Xiaomi 11 Pro/Ultra, Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE and Xiaomi 11T to receive the expected HyperOS update. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G, as HyperOS testing has not started for this particular model. This omission can be attributed to the limited production of the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G’s Snapdragon 780G. Snapdragon 780G is manufactured by Samsung.

Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G was only available for a short time before the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE hit the market. The second model, which is powered by the Snapdragon 778G processor, saw active sales. Notably, the lack of HyperOS testing for Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G suggests that it may not receive the expected update.

The last internal MIUI build for this smartphone is MIUI-23.8.31 and there are no recently tested MIUI or HyperOS builds, which gives credence to the idea that Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G may not be eligible for the new HyperOS update.

While the Mi 10 series has already started HyperOS testing, the lack of such activity for the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G means a different fate for this model. Unfortunately, Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G users may be disappointed by this news. The last update for this model is expected to be MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

However, it’s worth noting that for those discouraged by the absence of a HyperOS update, unofficial software development remains an option. Various developers could potentially create the HyperOS update for Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G, allowing users to seamlessly continue their experience beyond official support. So, are you curious about eligible and uneligible devices for HyperOS? If you are, keep reading this article!
