Xiaomi had previously confirmed that its most premium and advanced smartphone, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will launch later this month (February). However, there’s no information on the exact launch date of the product yet. But before going to that, the company has now shared the official camera sample of the device. It reveals the camera performance insight of probably the telephoto lens.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra telephoto lens camera sample reveals amazing low-light performance
The founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi has shared the first camera sample of the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Ultra on his Weibo handle. The photo has the Xiaomi’s legacy watermark that reveals technical details of the image. As per the watermark, the photo is shot using the device’s 100-mm periscope telephoto lens. And per the rumours, the device is going to use Samsung’s ISOCELL H9 camera sensor in the periscope lens.
Talking about the sensor, it is a 1/1.4-inch sensor that uses 4*4 pixel binning technology to provide improved low light performance. This allows the sensor to gather more light and details even in the darker environment. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is reportedly going to have a periscope lens with the optical zoom capability of 4.3X. It will further support upto 100X digital zoom, powered by AI.
The sample shared by the CEO looks promising but one single photo is not enough to draw the conclusion about any device’s camera performance. However, the CEO had previously said that Xiaomi 15 Ultra will bring the top-of-the-line improvements in the camera, especially in the night photography and since the sample shared also is shot on night environment using the periscope lens, we can take it as a hint that the device may get a new standard for low-light telephoto imaging.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra rumoured specifcations
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is said to be powered by the Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It will get a flagship micro-quad curved display with 2K pixel resolution and 120Hz high refresh rate support. Further, it will get the support of ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and satellite communication.
In terms of cameras, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is said to feature a quad camera setup with a 50-megapixel LYT-900 primary wide sensor. For auxiliary lenses, it will get a 50-megapixel JN5 ultra-wide lens, a 50-megapixel IMX858 telephoto lens and a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP9 periscope lens with 4.3X optical zoom support. In terms of battery, it will get a huge 6000mAh battery, all thanks to new-gen Silicon carbon battery tech, with the support of 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
