Xiaomi is saying goodbye to bigota links! Significant changes are expected.

As of now, Xiaomi is making some changes to the update links. Although it hasn’t happened yet, complaints from some users have come to light. All links with the extension “bigota.d.miui.com” are not working in certain regions and users cannot download the appropriate ROMs for their devices. Actually, we realized a few months ago that there would be a change. Xiaomi was considering switching to 2 new links, “ultimateota.d.miui.com” and “superota.d.miui.com“. However, we did not announce this because there was no other information.

The new links will have tokens and a time limit. Each link will be unique to a single user and you will not be able to use the same link after a certain period of time. For example, you have a link with a new extension for the Redmi K50 Ultra. You will not be able to use this link again after 4 days, you will have to request the server again and get a new link.

It is not known why Xiaomi is doing this. How will users get the update link when they need it? Of course, there are solutions for this. HyperOS Downloader app developed by us will soon be updated to support links with the new extension.

Why is Xiaomi changing the update links?

The Chinese government may be trying to track users through their smartphones. You might be wondering what this has to do with update links. Recently, Xiaomi was allegedly going to block bootloader unlocking. In addition to all this, the bootloader unlock has been blocked on some models in China for a few days, and there was some information that the server was under maintenance. We don’t want to say this, but they may stop the bootloader unlocking. Maybe this change will only happen in China. Whether it will affect the global market is not yet known.

Users have been unable to access update links in recent hours. Links with the extension “bigota.d.miui.com” are not working in certain regions. This is because Xiaomi will soon switch to a new link system. As we explained above, links with the new extension have a token and time limit. Xiaomi will say goodbye to the old links. “bigota.d.miui.com” and “hugeota.d.miui.com” will be removed after a certain period of time.

Only links with the extensions “superota.d.miui.com” and “ultimateota.d.miui.com” will be usable. This change made by Xiaomi upsets users. While millions of people wanted to easily access update links, this move of the brand shocked everyone. Xiaomi users are quite angry. We have no other information other than this.
