Xiaomi recently launched its Xiaomi 15 series globally, following its initial release in mainland China a few months ago. While the next iteration, the Xiaomi 16 series, isn’t expected to debut in China until the fourth quarter of 2025, there’s already some buzz around it. A new leak has surfaced, shedding light on the display and camera specs of the upcoming Xiaomi 16. Though it’s still a ways off, the details are already sparking interest since the current base model didn’t get any significant upgrades.

Xiaomi 16 key specifications tipped
Popular tipster Smart Pikachu on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo has shared some insights about the upcoming Xiaomi 16 device. He says that the device will feature some major upgrades compared to its predecessor (finally!). The Xiaomi 16 will get a larger 6.5 to 6.7-inch panel, up from the current screen size of 6.36-inch on Xiaomi 15.
In addition to increasing the screen size, Xiaomi is aiming for a slim and lightweight design with its upcoming device. To achieve this, the company has reportedly integrated an ultra-thin stacked periscope telephoto lens. It seems the next generation of smartphones is shifting focus toward becoming as slim and lightweight as possible. Apple is also rumored to be working on a sleek and lightweight iPhone 17 Air, signaling a broader industry trend.
Anyway, Xiaomi is also planning to follow major changes for the Xiaomi 16 Pro and the Xiaomi 16 Ultra device. Though we don’t have any specific information on the specifications and features of the device given that it is still under development.
