The CEO of Nothing, Carl Pie, had teased the upcoming “true flagship” of the brand a long ago. The Phone (3) is in the works and the firm has now started teasing it. The launch has been confirmed to take place on July 1st, 2025. But ahead of the launch, a few specifications such as its chipset and details about the software support has been revealed.

Nothing Phone (3) to get 7 years of software update, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset
Almost all the major Android OEMs have started promising long software support for their devices. The OnePlus promises upto 6 years of software update, Samsung and Google does upto 7 years. However, many mid-range devices are still stuck with 4 years of software support. But anyway, Nothing has confirmed that its upcoming “true flagship” device, the Phone (3) will have support of 5 years of Android updates and up to 7 years of security updates. This is amazing.
On the other hand, Nothing’s Co-Founder, Akis Evangelidis has confirmed that the Phone (3) will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Replying to the query of one of the users, the official says the brand has decided to go with Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 instead of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 because the former has better GPU, NPU, IPS and software support. Because of the chipset only, they are able to promise up to 5 years of Android updates and up to 7 years of security updates.
The newly promised software support is a huge jump when compared to its predecessor, the Phone (2). The predecessor, for reference, had up to 3 years of Android updates support.
