Google has already shared that they’re aiming to launch Android 16 earlier than usual this year. Typically, new versions of Android come out around August, but this time, it looks like we might see it as early as June or July. The company is putting in a lot of effort to make this happen. They’ve just announced the release date for Android 16 Beta 3, so things seem to be moving quickly.

Google recently teased on its official Android Developers X account that the release is set for tomorrow (which is today for us), March 13th. Beyond this announcement, the company hasn’t shared any additional details. The Android 16 Beta 3 release is expected to roll out later in the evening today.

That said, not all developers or testers will get access to the update at the same time. Some might receive it earlier, while others could see it roll out a bit later. Once the OTA (over-the-air) update is released, Google will also provide a manual installation package. This way, users can install the update manually if they don’t want to wait for the OTA.

When it comes to the key changes in Android 16, there’s not much solid information available yet. However, some rumors suggest that the new version might introduce features like adding widgets to the lockscreen and a more customizable control center. Still, it’s best to wait for official details before jumping to any conclusions.
