Exynos is back! Galaxy A55 Geekbench score reveals a very powerful midranger is underway

Samsung has not yet introduced its 2024 midrange series, but Galaxy A55 Geekbench result has already emerged on the web. We previously found out the Galaxy A55 in IMEI database, indicating an upcoming launch, and now the device’s Geekbench score leaks. Galaxy A55 is likely to come with Exynos 1480 chipset, as the previous Galaxy A54 came with the Exynos 1380. The upcoming Galaxy A55’s performance seems good, but it doesn’t appear to have a significant difference compared to the previous generation. Exynos 1480 SoC will feature AMD’s mobile GPU, may feature the Samsung Xclipse 530 GPU as per the reports.

Exynos 1480 is an 8-core chipset, with 4 cores running at 2.05 GHz and the other 4 cores running at 2.75 GHz. Galaxy A55 scored 873 in single core test and 2680 in the multi core on Geekbench 5. These scores might not actually satisfy you, but this is the case for most midrange devices in 2023. The recently launched Redmi Note 13 Pro+ hits almost the same score as the Galaxy A55 on Geekbench. However the real deal is the energy efficiency and GPU performance.

Samsung Xclipse 530 GPU is set to feature AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture. There has been rumors about the AMD GPUs in the Galaxy S24 series for a long time, and it appears that Samsung is likely to give AMD GPUs to its midrange lineup as well.

Galaxy A55 Geekbench score seems just fine, but there is currently no data available on energy consumption and the GPU performance. It remains to be seen in the upcoming days whether Exynos will make a huge comeback.
