Huawei yesterday (June 20th) held its annual developer conference in China. In the conference, the brand announced the second major version of its native operating system, the HarmonyOS 6. It comes with AI (artificial intelligence) integration across the UI and brings some other major changes as well.

Huawei’s HarmonyOS 6 is official
The HarmonyOS 6 is centered on AI integration, developer tools and on improving the HarmonyOS ecosystem. HMAF, or Harmony Agent Framework, remains the most-talked about addition of it. HMAF basically adds a new native AI agent to the whole HarmonyOS ecosystem.
As per Huawei, HMAF goes beyond traditional edge agents as it combines the system-level understanding, planning and execution. The AI agent has been trained on a data volume of whopping 20 trillion tokens. It also allows for third-party AI agents to integrate with the HarmonyOS. It can enable task automation or changes without any manual integration.
Huawei has said that they are further working on 50 intelligent agents that can be used for office and personal works. The company also reports that the OS now has over 30,000 applications and meta-services in the ecosystem. Over 1,200 products have been developed using the open-source system, the OpenHarmony. The new version also completely ditches the support of Android applications.
The firm has also released a new AI to assist and interest developers, it is named as DevEco CodeGenie. This AI tool supports code generation, debugging and O&A features. It is built on company’s own domain specific knowledge base, meaning it can resolve up to 70% of syntax errors and generate functional code continuations 40% of the time.
