The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, recently said the Apple to either manufacture the iPhones locally in the country or face up to 25% tariff. He further stated that he does not want the firm to manufacture in India. However, the recently release stats reveals something shocking. A whopping of 97% of the iPhones that were manufactured in India went to the US.

Nearly all the iPhones manufactured in India between March and May went to the US
As per a customs data analysis done by the Reuters, nearly all the iPhones that were manufactured and exported by Foxconn from India between March and May went directly to the United States.
Between the March and May 2025, Foxconn exported iPhones worth $3.2 billion (around INR 27,500 crore) from India. Out of this, 97% of the iPhones were shipped to the US. Compared to the data of 2024 where an average of 50% iPhones exported from India went to US, this is a steep increase.
In the month of May only, the shipment worth $1 billion or INR 8,600 crore were exported from India to the US. In the March, the company exported iPhones worth record $1.3 billion. Reuters also sent a respond request to the Foxconn and Apple, however both the firms have declined for the comment.
Now since Donald Trump, the President himself does not want the Apple to manufacture in India, it would be interesting to see how situations turn around in the future. Until then, you can explore more news on our website.
