OnePlus has finally unveiled the OnePlus 12, and naturally, the question arises about its improved capabilities compared to its predecessor, here we have the OnePlus 11 vs OnePlus 12 comparison. OnePlus 11 unveiled in 2022 and is known as one of the most popular smartphones but actually left the tech enthusiasts disappointed. It lacked some features in comparison to its predecessor, such as featuring a USB 2.0 standard instead of the USB Type-C 3.1 on the previous OnePlus 10 Pro. OnePlus 11 also took criticism because of the low screen brightness.

Performance & Battery
OnePlus 12 comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and its predecessor offered the Gen 2. OnePlus seems to have set a new standard for RAM and storage with their new phones this year. The base variant of OnePlus 12 boasts 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage. In contrast, OnePlus 11 is available in an 8GB+128GB variant as the base variant, with the UFS 3.1 storage chip. OnePlus 12’s base variant starts with a 12GB+256GB model, and all OnePlus 12 variants feature a UFS 4.0 storage unit.
Furthermore, while OnePlus 11’s maximum storage capacity is 512GB, OnePlus 12 takes it up a notch to 1TB, paired with 24GB RAM. It appears that OnePlus aims to create a brand new performance powerhouse this year. One of the significant distinctions between the two phones lies in the battery. Although both OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12 feature the same 100W fast charging system, OnePlus 11 offered 5000mAh capacity, while OnePlus 12 boasts a 5400mAh battery.
Since OnePlus 12 comes with a slightly larger battery capacity, you might expect a longer time to charge it completely compared to the predecessor. However, according to OnePlus’ statement, it takes 25 minutes to charge the OnePlus 11 from 0 to 100%, while OnePlus 12 can be fully charged in 26 minutes. Despite the increase in battery capacity, there is no significant increase in charging time.
Another notable feature absent in the OnePlus 11 is the wireless charging, which OnePlus 12 brings it again with support for 50W wireless charging. Additionally, the charging port has been upgraded from USB-C 2.0 to USB-C 3.2.
Display
OnePlus 12 offers a considerable enhancement in display brightness when compared to OnePlus 11. While OnePlus 11 achieves a maximum brightness of 800 nits in High Brightness Mode, OnePlus 12 doubles this with an impressive 1600 nits.
OnePlus 12 can reach a peak brightness of 4500 nits, making it the smartphone with the brightest display ever. OnePlus 12 features a 6.82-inch QHD resolution AMOLED display, representing a minor increase in size from OnePlus 11’s 6.7-inch screen.
Cameras
We can confidently say that the camera system of the OnePlus 12 is significantly better than OnePlus 11. This is because of the larger image sensor and a better lens in the main camera, along with the inclusion of a periscope telephoto camera with a 3x zoom capability, surpassing the 2x zoom in OnePlus 11.
The telephoto camera of OnePlus 12 is equipped with OIS, a feature absent in its predecessor, OnePlus 11. The main camera of OnePlus 12 boasts a sensor size of 1/1.56-inch and an f/1.6 lens. In comparison, OnePlus 11‘s telephoto camera has a smaller 1/2.74-inch sensor.

OnePlus 12 entered the market this year as a highly powerful phone, featuring a significantly improved camera system, a larger battery, and wireless charging compared to its predecessor. However, the OnePlus 12 comes with a notably thick design.
OnePlus has been very successful in packing features into their phones, but OnePlus 12 has a rather hefty design, with a substantial camera bump at the back. OnePlus 12 has a thickness of 9.2mm, whereas OnePlus 11 is 8.5mm thick.
If you are in search of a compact phone, unfortunately, OnePlus 12 is likely not the right choice for you. Additionally, the phone is 15 grams heavier compared to its predecessor. If you are a power user, you can confidently buy OnePlus 12, but keep in mind that when you use a case, you’ll have a massive phone with a thickness of 1cm or even more than that. If the camera is not very important for you, the OnePlus 11 remains a reasonable option.
