Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is now renamed as Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition

Qualcomm seems pretty unconfident with the name of its upcoming flagship chipset for the mobile. The processor was first supposed to be known as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, and then we had some rumours claiming that the firm has decided to change the chipset’s name to Snapdragon 8 Elite. Heck, even the official teasers from OnePlus and Xiaomi addressed the SoC as Snapdragon 8 Elite. But now, Snapdragon has suddenly decided to change and give its chipset a new name.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 gets renamed again!

As per the known tipster Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is again renamed. This time the brand has decided to go with the moniker “Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition.” Just for reference, it was previously reported that Snapdragon has decided to call the 8 Gen 4 mobile chipset as Snapdragon 8 Elite and now we have a different name. So this is the second time the manufacturer decided to change the name of its upcoming flagship chipset.

There are no official reports on why the brand decided to change the name of its flagship chipset, but the reason for the second name change could be because of the “Elite” branding being used in the Snpardgon chip for PCs. All and all, this is just speculation and since there is no information or response from the brand’s side yet, we cannot draw any conclusion yet.

But regardless of the name, the hardware specifications are going to be the name with no change whatsoever. The chipset is going to bring some really huge upgrades over its predecessor the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
