Xiaomi 15 Series Goes Official in China: Specs, Features, and Everything You Need to Know

Xiaomi has launched its most anticipated Xiaomi 15 Series phones in an event in China this evening. The series contains two phones, the base Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Pro, all boast top tier hardware features in a sleek design.

Xiaomi 15

Xiaomi 15 features a 6.36 inch flat display with industry leading screen to body ratio. The smartphone is 8.08mm thin and weighs 191g. The bezels from all four sides are just 1.38mm thin making it symmetrical. The display of Xiaomi 15 is also very luxurious, featuring brand new TCLs M9 display material with a peak brightness of 3200 nits. The Xiaomi 15 has a 1.5k resolution screen. The display features 1-120hz LTPO tech for better power consumption. Xiaomi 15 also features Xiaomi’s self developed Longjing glass for durability. The smartphone is also the first phone with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

The smartphone features a triple camera setup with a 1/1.31 50MP f1.62 aperture Light Hunter 900 sensor main camera paired with a 50 MPJN1 ultra-wide lens and a 50MP 1/2.76 JN5 2.6X telephoto macro lens. The cameras are co-engineered with Leica, featuring brand new Leica Summilux Lens. Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 will also support an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner from Goodix. The front camera is 32 MP resolution. The smartphone will also come with a IP68 high level Dust and Waterproof certification.

Xiaomi 15s battery gets a major boost from its predecessor, featuring a large 5400mAh battery paired with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phone also supports 30W magnetic wireless charging.

Xiaomi 15 comes in a variety of colour variants in China. The silver colour uses 3D hot-bent glass to create a real wave feel when touched. There are 2 high-gloss middle frames, available in bright silver and bright black, and 20 customised colours. There is also a Diamond Limited Edition variant 3 fashionable colours, glacier white, elephant grey and orange with diamond inlaid middle frame, shining, crocodile skin texture, Kona leather back panel, and exquisite texture.

Xiaomi 15 Pro

The Xiaomi 15 Pro comes with some of the biggest improvements over the previous generation, the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The smartphone features a 6.73 inch micro quad curved display. This display is the same as Xiaomi 14 but with 2K resolution and Xiaomi Longjing Glass 2. The phone is 8.35mm thin and weighs 213g. Just like Xiaomi 15, the Pro is also powered by the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

The camera configuration is well-balanced, featuring a 1/1.31 50MP f1.44 aperture Light Hunter 900 sensor main camera paired with a 50MP JN1 ultra-wide lens and a 50MP 1/2.51 IMX 858 f2.5 5X Periscope Macro lens. The cameras will be co-engineered with Leica with brand new Leica Summilux Lens. Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Pro also supports an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner from Goodix. The smartphone also comes with a IP68 high level Dust and Waterproof certification.

The Xiaomi 15 Pro is equipped with an ultra large 6100mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support. The phone also features 30W magnetic wireless charging. There is also Xiaomi Xingchen Netcom, the industry’s first to support 3.5km two-way calls without network.

All Xiaomi 15 Series smartphones comes with Xiaomi HyperOs 2 out of the box.

Pricing and Availability

The Xiaomi 15 comes in Black, White, Asakusa Green, Lilac and Bright Silver colours and is priced at 4499 yuan ($630 /₹52,985) for 12GB + 256GB, 4799 yuan ($672 / ₹56,515) for 12GB + 512GB, 4999 yuan ($700 / ₹58,870) for 16GB + 512GB and 5499 yuan ($770 / ₹64,760) for the 16GB + 1TB model. The Xiaomi 15 Diamond Limited Edition 16GB + 1TB model is priced at 5999 yuan ($840 / ₹70,635).

The Xiaomi 15 Pro comes in Black, White, Green and Silver colour variants and is priced at 5299 yuan ($742 /₹62,414) for 12GB + 256GB, 5799 yuan ($812 / ₹68,304) for 16GB + 512GB, 6499 yuan ($910/ ₹76,550) for 16GB + 1024GB.

The official sale will start on 31st October in China.
