Xiaomi will be releasing the Xiaomi 15 Series in China soon in October however the flagship which everyone is looking forward to, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, will be launching next year in Q1.
This year Xiaomi launched Xiaomi 14 Ultra in China and globally, the phone is hands down the best Imaging smartphone you can buy globally so everyone is eagerly waiting to see what the next iteration of Ultra will offer.
New Quad camera system…
Recently Ice Universe on X (formally Twitter) revealed that Xiaomi 15 Ultra will use a 200MP 4.x times Periscope camera. This is the same Periscope that is currently being used on Vivo X100 Ultra. But unlike Vivo, Xiaomi will have the advantage of increased focal length.
The 200MP sensor used here is speculated to be 1/1.4’ HP9 sensor by Samsung. The advantage of having a big sensor on a Periscope camera is that it can give very good low-light photos at longer zoom.
Also using advanced sensor cropped technology, Xiaomi 15 Ultra can give lossless 10x-12x zoom photos. And the zoom will also be backed by Xiaomi Ultra Zoom AI 2.0 for Ultra-long zooms.
With the use of advanced generative AI large models, the details at higher zoom levels can be restored without much quality loss. The smartphone will also feature a Quad Camera system with a 50MP 1 inch Main camera with Stepless Variable Aperture, 50MP Ultra Wide, 50MP 3.x times Floating Telephoto camera.
Of course, all the cameras will be co-engineered by Leica. It’s a bit surprising that despite using a 200MP large sensor periscope, Xiaomi 15 Ultra has also retained the telephoto camera for mid-level zooms.
Overall, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra camera has evolved massively over the previous generation. Almost all the shortcomings of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra have been removed in the 15 Ultra.
Launch Details…
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will have a separate launch, just like previous generations. The smartphone will debut first in China in February 2025 and will be launched Globally at MWC Barcelona in February 2025. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will also be launched in India, so stay tuned.
