Compact flagships are making a strong return to the market. Several OEMs, including Vivo and OnePlus, have already launched their first compact flagship devices in the market. Xiaomi, despite already having a device in the Xiaomi N series with a small form factor, is reportedly developing a new Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini device.

A new model in Xiaomi 16 series is coming soon
Xiaomi 16 series of devices are expected to hit the market this September. The Xiaomi N series used to have three different devices: Xiaomi N, Xiaomi N Pro and Xiaomi N Ultra. However, it’s going to change with the upcoming 16 series. Popular tipster Digital Chat Station reports that it will include four models.
Xiaomi 16 series will comprise of Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Mini and 16 Ultra. The new series will be offered in two display sizes: 6.3-inches and 6.8-inches. Both the variants will feature a large, horizontal matrix-style camera module that will take as much as one-third space of the rear panel.
This is the first time when Xiaomi is going to introduce a new compact smartphone that will likely be positioned above 16 Pro but below the Ultra. Or it will carry the similar specifications as the 16 Pro but in a smaller, compact form factor. It may be named as Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini, but we do not have any strong leak or official information about that yet.
Further, both the Pro variant devices will include a periscope telephoto lens. The Ultra variant may also bring back the secondary display that we used to get on the Mi 11 Ultra. The entire 16 series is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 mobile platform. The chipset is yet to be launched, and it is expected to be launched somewhere before the launch of Xiaomi 16 series.
