Xiaomi 15S Pro to Get Rid of Snapdragon, Will Feature Xiaomi Surge SoC

Xiaomi has started developing its chipsets lately. However, the ones launched till now are only meant to enhance the experience by offering an add-on optimization. There has been no proper “system-on-chip” made by Xiaomi yet. However, it seems that we are not far from getting one soon. There’s a new leak on social media and per it, Xiaomi’s upcoming Xiaomi 15S Pro will be powered by the Xiaomi Surge chipset and there’s a high probability of “no Snapdragon.”

Xiaomi is probably working on its own Xiaomi Surge chipset

A new post on the Chinese microblogging platform tells that Xiaomi has started working on the upcoming Xiaomi 15S series of smartphones. The post further reveals that the Xiaomi 15S Pro’s hardware specifications are very similar to those of the Xiaomi 15 Pro. It’s been stated to come with a new design though.

But that’s not the interesting part. Per the source, the Xiaomi 15S Pro will be powered by Xiaomi’s self-developed Surge SoC (system on chip). And well, if the device is going to be powered by Xiaomi’s chipset this directly converts to no Snapdragon or MediaTek. This is intriguing. Xiaomi mostly uses Snapdragon for its flagship smartphones and MediaTek on the flagship killer ones. But interesting times are ahead.

Well, that’s all we know about the Xiaomi 15S Pro. There’s literally “zero” credible information related to it on the internet. And it does make sense given that even the Xiaomi 15 series has not been launched yet. But this very “early” rumour of it sounds interesting. It would be worth watching the game if Xiaomi switched to Surge chip.
