Xiaomi is set to bring back one of its most iconic design choices with the upcoming Xiaomi 16 Series. According to renowned Chinese tech insider Digital Chat Station, the new iterative flagship lineup is rumoured to have a Transparent Fiberglass Edition, reviving the transparent back panel design that attracted fans during the Mi 8, Mi 9 Explorer Edition, and Mi 10 Ultra eras.
In 2020, Xiaomi released its last transparent flagship known as the Mi 10 Ultra. The Mi 8 and Mi 9 Explorer Editions previously showed off their internals with translucent sides and backs, although in a way designed to appeal to buyers.
Now, nearly five years later, Xiaomi is reportedly reintroducing this bold and futuristic design with a modern twist. The new Transparent Fiberglass Edition of the Xiaomi 16 Series aims to blend advanced materials and minimalist design, offering a unique visual experience in a sea of uniform smartphone designs.
What to Expect from the Xiaomi 16 Series
The Xiaomi 16 Series will finally switch to the Flat display route for the entire lineup, which includes Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Ultra. Not only this, the 16 Pro will increase the display size to 6.8x inches from the current 6.73 inches on the Xiaomi 15 Series. Xiaomi 16 will continue to follow its small screen route with a 6.36-inch display size.
The device will feature a new 50MP 1/1.3 inch OV50Q sensor. The sensor also supports LOFIC technology. The new sensor is also said to have fast focusing speed, high dynamic range and lower power consumption compared to previous generation. Moreover Xiaomi 16 Pro is also said to have a new 50MP Periscope camera solution from Sony. This is a significant change from the previous Xiaomi 15 Pro, which had a 50MP IMX 858 sensor. The new sensor will be bigger and paired with a new generation of lenses and a big aperture.
