Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Unveiled: Specs, Features, and Everything You Need to Know

Xiaomi has officially launched its next-generation flip device, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, in the Chinese market. The phone boasts some of the best hardware available on a flip smartphone in the market, directly rivalling the likes of the upcoming Galaxy X Flip 7.

The MIX Flip 2 has a sleek triple curve foldable AMOLED, where the three curves offer a smooth experience to open and fold. The phone has a frosted metal frame which not only improves grip but also has no fingerprints and smudges. It is compact sized as it can fit into the pocket with 73.8mm width, 7.57mm thickness when opened and 199g.

One structural improvement is Xiaomi applying a new, more complex, “three-link, four-floating plate” hinge. This would be an engineering breakthrough in increasing the strength of the hinge by 2X, drop resistance by 20% and impact protection by 30%. Both CQC and SGS certify it as 200,000 folds, guaranteeing its durability in the long-term.

Some interesting accessories are also introduced by Xiaomi, such as a rotating mirror case and a cross-body strap model.

The MIX Flip 2 features two high-end AMOLED displays. The outer 4.01-inch panel features a 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 3200 nits. It supports over 500 apps in a functional 16:9 layout and includes features like message previews, QR scanning, full keyboard input, and voice calls with AI noise reduction.

Speaking of the internal 6.86 inch display, its flexible AMOLED screen matches the outer display’s resolution and brightness while offering an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate. Both screens are certified for low blue light and flicker-free use, and support Dolby Vision, HDR10+, vivid colors, and wet-touch input for enhanced usability in all conditions.

The MIX Flip 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The phone features a dual vapor chamber cooling system for efficient performance. By marking a new benchmark, it is now the first in the flip-style foldable category that has a massive 5165mAh battery, which breaks battery capacity records previously established by other devices that used the same form factor. It uses ultra-high silicon battery technology featuring 10% silicon with an outstanding energy density of up to 843Wh/L, ensuring an 18% increase in daily battery life. This large battery is paired with 67W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Speaking of imaging, the MIX Flip 2 houses a Leica-engineered dual camera system: a 50MP main 1/1.56 inch OV50E sensor with a Summilux lens and OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera with macro capability, and a 32MP front-facing shooter capable of 4K video. It also has a hover mode which can turn the phone into a DV camcorder or action cam, allowing flexible angles between 45° and 120°.

Moreover, the device also supports dual SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and includes Xiaomi’s new Starlight wireless system for improved long-range connectivity. For audio, users get stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
