OnePlus Open has been launched officially, packs top-of-the-line specifications

OnePlus has made its grand entry into the foldable smartphone market with the launch of the OnePlus Open. This device represents the brand’s first foray into this exciting new market segment. With the market becoming increasingly competitive due to the entry of various brands, OnePlus’ newly launched foldable phone stands out with its impressive hardware and boasts one of the most powerful camera setups found on any foldable smartphone.

OnePlus Open hardware specifications; how does it stand out from the competition?

The OnePlus Open features a dual-display setup. The primary display can be utilized when the device is unfolded, while an outer screen is available when it is folded. The cover display boasts a premium 6.31-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2484×1116 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and an impressive peak brightness of up to 2800 nits. Additionally, it offers variable refresh rate support, capable of seamlessly transitioning between 10Hz and 120Hz.

The main screen of the OnePlus Open is a substantial 7.82-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2440×2268 pixels and an impressive peak brightness of 2800 nits. Similar to the cover display, the main screen also supports a variable refresh rate, but it can go even lower, down to 1Hz, in contrast to the outer screen, which has a minimum refresh rate of 10Hz.

When it comes to performance, the OnePlus Open is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, coupled with a maximum of 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB of internal storage. This configuration is in line with that of the OPPO Find N3. The smartphone will boot up on OxygenOS 13.2 based on Android 13. The software is customized to utilize the maximum potential of hardware and to elevate the overall user experience.

As for the cameras, it comes with a triple rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel Sony LYT -T808 Pixel Stacked CMOS primary wide camera with the support of Optical Image Stabilization. It has a 64-megapixel telephoto lens with 6X lossless optical zoom support. Further, it has a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens as well. The users can record Dolby Vision video with the gadget which is a very good addition. On the front, we get two different cameras – 32-megapixel and 20-megapixel. The former is housed in the cover display while the latter is located around the main screen.

It is backed by a 4805mAh battery with the support of 67W fast wired charging. The brand has also promised up to 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of continuous security patches for the device.

OnePlus India

The first foldable from OnePlus comes in two different color variants – Voyager Black and Emerald Dusk. The Black one comes with a leather back panel while the Emerald one comes with a frosted glass back. It comes in one and only 16GB + 512GB variant which is priced at INR 1,39,999 (~$1,681.67) in India. It would be available for $1699 in North America and EUR 1799 (~$$1,900.64) in Europe.
