2025 is going to be the year of telephoto cameras and high-capacity smartphone batteries. The new-gen silicon carbon battery tech allows the smartphone manufacturers to fit in higher battery capacity in less or similar space (compared to old-gen battery tech). Now, the popular smartphone manufacturer OPPO is reportedly testing a whopping 8,000mAh battery for its upcoming smartphones.

OPPO and OnePlus are testing high capacity battery for future devices
Tipster Digital Chat Station on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo reports that OPPO and OnePlus are working on a powerful new battery system. According to him, the new battery system has a whopping achieved battery capacity of 8,000mAh along with the support of 80W fast wired charging.
The current standard battery capacity for most smartphones is 5,000mAh. This new 8,000mAh battery is 60% larger than that standard. According to a tipster, the brand has incorporated 15% high-silicon material in the development of this battery. It’s also important to note that the tipster did not explicitly mention any specific brand. Instead, they referred to “Omega Labs” (translated from Chinese), which is widely believed to be associated with OnePlus and OPPO.
If the testing goes well and concludes with a green flag, then we can expect the upcoming mid-range and flagship devices from both OnePlus and OPPO to have a whopping 8,000mAh battery fitted inside. Let’s wait a few more weeks to get more insight on the product.
